It is one of the densest municipalities in the state, the apartment blocks mostly predate the idea of off-street parking, and a resident space is something you defend rather than something you have. That single fact changes how auto glass works here. People do not have the luxury of leaving a car sitting for an afternoon, and giving up a spot for a repair can cost more aggravation than the repair itself.

Those who do drive contend with permit parking, almost no driveways, and delivery vans holding the curb along the avenue for much of the day. Twelve to fifteen minutes is realistic, though the avenue can be slow through the shopping stretch, so a mid-morning run is easier than a lunchtime one.
