Leonia has a traffic problem that once made national news. The borough sits directly on the cut-through between Route 80, Route 46 and the George Washington Bridge, and for years drivers followed their phones off the highway and through residential side streets to save a few minutes on the approach. The borough eventually restricted those streets to residents during peak bridge hours. What that history says about glass is simple enough: plenty of the vehicles doing damage on these roads were never coming to Leonia in the first place.
Residents live with the consequences regardless. You still merge into that flow to get anywhere east, and Broad Avenue and Grand Avenue carry it. When the glass finally gives out we are ten or fifteen minutes away up on the ridge, with a price quoted before the work starts and no line items appearing afterward.
